Hibernians…………….0
Ħamrun Spartans…..1

Ħamrun Spartans returned to winning ways after beating Hibernians 1-0 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium. The victory came just one week after the Paolites defeated the Spartans in the Super Cup with a last-gasp extra-time goal.

Giacomo Modica was forced to do without suspended Matias Garcia and injured Damir Ceter, who is expected to be sidelined for several weeks. Hibernians were also missing key players, with Charleston Silva dos Santos suspended and captain Bjorn Kristensen ruled out through injury.

After a goalless first half, Ħamrun scored the decisive goal on the 57th minute. A cross by Jonny was met by Matthew Guillaumier, whose header fell perfectly for Joseph Mbong, who nodded home past Hibernians goalkeeper Branescu.

Ħamrun then held firm until the final whistle to secure all three points and move back into second place on 15 points, narrowing the gap to just two points behind leaders Floriana, who were held to a draw by Marsaxlokk.
