Floriana were left frustrated after failing to turn their chances into goals in a goalless draw against Marsaxlokk.
Mustapha Jah went close twice in the first half before being forced off injured early in the second period. Jake Grech also missed a great chance from close range and later tested Matthew Calleja Cremona with a free-kick.
Floriana had more opportunities, but Marsaxlokk held firm and nearly stole it late on, only for Cioletti to deny Dodo Soares.
In another match, Tarxien Rainbows boosted their survival hopes with a crucial 1-0 win over Mosta at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.
The decisive moment came on 17 minutes when Junior Erico’s shot deflected off Jake Vassallo for an own goal. Mosta had chances to equalise, including a penalty before half-time, but Joaquim Fernandes was denied by a brilliant save from Tarxien goalkeeper Andrea Cassar.
