Four matches were played on Saturday in the YoHealth Malta Premier Closing Round, with three games ending in draws while Marsaxlokk registering the only win of the day to confirm third place.
Gżira United 1-1 Żabbar St Patrick
Gżira and Żabbar shared the points in a tense encounter, with a last-minute equaliser keeping Żabbar unbeaten in four games.
Gżira took the lead in the 19th minute when Johan Bonilla’s shot hit the crossbar and David Xuereb reacted quickest to score from close range.
Żabbar equalised late through Ayom Mayok Ayom, who finished from close range after a quick attacking move.
Żabbar had to finish the match with ten men after Vincius Paiva was shown a red card, adding extra drama to the closing stages.
Mosta 1-2 Marsaxlokk
Marsaxlokk confirmed third place with a comeback win over Mosta, coming from behind to take all three points.
Mosta opened the scoring in the 14th minute through a long-range strike from Cacho Alves da Silva.
Marsaxlokk equalised in the 32nd minute when Jorge Ailton Soares scored from distance, and he netted again in the 43rd minute after a low cross from the right to complete the turnaround.
Hibernians 1-1 Valletta
Hibernians and Valletta played out an entertaining draw, with both sides creating chances after a quiet first half.
Valletta went ahead on the hour mark when Mbende’s header hit the post and Radic scored from the rebound.
Hibernians equalised in the 73rd minute when Miullen scored with an acrobatic effort from a corner, but he was sent off immediately after for removing his shirt during celebration, leaving Hibernians with ten players.
Tarxien Rainbows 1-1 Sliema Wanderers
Tarxien and Sliema shared the points in a balanced match, with both goals coming in the second half.
Sliema took the lead in the 56th minute when Duranovic ran through and finished well.
Tarxien equalised ten minutes later through Lokosa, who controlled a high ball, drove into the box, and scored to make it 1-1.
