Everything is set for the launch of the Malta Premier League’s opening twelve matches of the new season tonight.
Ahead of announcing a major sponsor, who will secure the naming rights similar to 360Sports in the league’s inaugural edition, the new match ball was alsounveiled last week. Full details will be revealed during Monday’s launch event, which will be broadcast live on TVMSport+ starting at 7 PM.
The fixtures for the first match week have already been confirmed. Today the draws for Match Weeks 2 through 12 will take place, revealing the complete schedule for the Opening Round of the League Phase. As in last season, after each team plays its initial twelve matches, the league will split into the Top 6 and Bottom 6 groups based on the standings.
The opening match day is set for the weekend following Santa Marija feast, with the season kicking off in style on Saturday, August 16. Matches will continue on Sunday, August 17, featuring Mosta vs. Marsaxlokk, Hibernians vs. Gżira United, Floriana vs. Naxxar Lions, and Sliema Wanderers vs. Żabbar St. Patrick. Defending champions Ħamrun Spartans will begin their title defence against newly promoted Tarxien Rainbows. The day after Santa Marija feast will see a high-profile clash between rivals Birkirkara and Valletta.
The Malta Premier League Draw will be broadcast live on Monday, June 30, on TVMSport+. The one-hour programme, featuring many special guests, will begin at 7 PM.
