Valletta and Ħamrun Spartans shared the points after a goalless draw at the Tony Bezzina Stadium following 96 minutes of evenly matched football.
Ħamrun were without goalkeeper Henry Bonello due to injury, while Valletta went into the match knowing that new signing Diogo Tavares will serve the full six-match suspension after his appeal was rejected.
Chances were limited throughout the game. Ħamrun had the better of the early opportunities, coming close through Jonny and Demar Ceter, but failed to make their pressure count. Valletta also threatened on a few occasions, particularly late on, but were unable to find a winning goal.
Despite the high intensity and strong rivalry, neither side could break the deadlock, with the draw reflecting the balance of play.
