Valletta St Paul's and San Giljan Saints to contest MAFA KO final

Valletta St Paul’s and St Ġiljan Saints will contest the Next Auto Car Sales Ltd MAFA KO final.

Holders Valletta St Paul’s beat Senglea Gunners 4-1 in a game they dominated especially in the first half. In fact, the Citizens scored four goals and it was only in the second half that the Cottonera team reduced the scoring margin.

Elton Da Silva surged Valletta St Paul’s ahead after just five minutes with Matthew Cassar making it 2-0 in the 18th minute after a header.

The score became 3-0 and it was the same Elton da Silva who combined a personal double with Sebastian Morales who made it 4-0.

In the second half, the St Paul’s outfit relaxed a bit and this allowed Senglea to score the consolation goal thanks to Moses Nwankwo in the 56th minute.

San Ġiljan Saints had to go to extra time to eliminate Ta’ Giorni Wanderers 2-1. The latter were one minute away from obtaining a historic qualification when they were winning 1-0 with the Saints who scored the dramatic equalizer that took the game into extra time and from which they took the final victory .

An own goal by Radu Vlase put Ta’ Giorni ahead on 42 minutes so that one minute before the end of the match Niall Dorman equalized the score for the Saints.

Earlier, the Saints had the chance to equalize when they were awarded a penalty but Aleks Delectic’s shot was well saved by the brave goalkeeper Josef Spiteri.

With the game going to extra time, St. Julian’s scored the winning goal with a beautiful free kick by Ethan Goodman that surprised Spiteri.
