Johan Attard wrote a new page in the history of Maltese blackball when he became the first player to win an international IPA blackball tournament after beating the Isle of Man player David Addinall 7-2 in the final.
It was an impeccable display from the Cospicua Rangers player who gave little chance to his opponent to take control of the game and although he conceded two frames, he remained consistent until the end.
Earlier Attard had eliminated Chris Bowron 7-1 in order to advance to the quarter finals where he repeated the same score against the Scottish Robert Stephen.
In the semi-final Johan Attard had a tough match against Greg Davis but still won 7-5.
Attard was also very consistent throughout this weekend’s games held in Coventry when he won 13 of the 14 games he played.
The other Maltese player Clint Grima was unlucky to lose his game against the Englishman Dean Shields 7-6.
