Arsenal came away from Madrid with a 1-1 draw against Atlético in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.
Atlético started well and created the first chances, but Arsenal grew into the game and took the lead just before half-time. Viktor Gyökeres scored from the penalty spot after being fouled in the box.
The home side came out strongly after the break and equalised through Julián Alvarez, who also scored a penalty. Atlético pushed for a winner and came close, hitting the bar and forcing a number of saves from David Raya.

Arsenal were later awarded another penalty, but it was overturned after a VAR review.
In the end, Arsenal held firm and will be pleased with the result ahead of the second leg at home, although the tie remains evenly balanced.
