Real Madrid produced a dominant display as they thrashed Monaco 6-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu, with Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé leading the way.
The match came to life early when Mbappé scored in the fifth minute with a powerful strike from the edge of the box, using only his second touch of the game. Monaco struggled to respond and missed a big chance to equalise when Ansu Fati failed to score from close range.
Real doubled their lead after 25 minutes following a quick counter-attack. Vinícius delivered a perfect cross with the outside of his boot, and Mbappé finished well to score his second of the night.
Monaco threatened before half-time, hitting the crossbar through Jordan Teze and forcing saves from Thibaut Courtois, but they could not find a goal.
Any hope of a comeback disappeared shortly after the restart. Franco Mastantuono made it 3-0 with a first-time finish after another assist from Vinícius. Soon after, Thilo Kehrer turned Vinícius’ low cross into his own net, as Real continued to dominate.
Vinícius then scored a stunning goal himself, firing into the top corner to make it 5-0. Monaco managed a consolation goal after a defensive mistake allowed Teze to score, but Jude Bellingham rounded off the scoring by dribbling past the goalkeeper and finishing into an empty net.
The win moves Real Madrid up to second place in the Champions League table, while Monaco sit down in 21st and are close to elimination.
