Yesterday, the world of football was shaken by the news that the Premier League announced that Manchester City was accused of violating more than 100 financial regulations. The biggest problem could be Roberto Mancini’s contract.
Information related to the contract of the former coach of the club, the Italian Roberto Mancini, was leaked to the public.
As reported by the German newspaper Spiegel, Mancini earned 1.6 million euros in salary and an additional 1.9 million as an adviser to the Al Jazira club from the United Arab Emirates.
Mancini’s company ‘Italy Internacional Services’ sends quarterly invoices to City, which in turn sends money to the Abu Dhabi United group, which is run by Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour. The group then transfers the money to Al Jazira, which pays it to Mancini.
Of the other bonuses, the one for winning the Premier League in 2012 worth as much as 4.5 million euros stands out, while he was promised 3.3 million for the Champions League trophy. There were still many expenses, which included flights for him and his family, accommodation, tickets for home games and the like.
Man City is accused of breaking the rules from 2009 to 2018, which is twice as long as the one for which UEFA has already fined them 30 million euros and banned them from playing in Europe for two years.
However, after an appeal, they were fined only 10 million euros, when the punishment was changed by the Sports Court in Lausanne.
