The company ‘Ineos’, owned by the British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, has officially joined the ‘race’ to buy Manchester United.
The current owners of the club from Old Trafford, the American Glazer family, announced back in November that they wanted to sell the “Red Devils“.
The Glazers then stated that the club’s board of directors will consider all strategic alternatives, including new investments in the club or ultimately a sale.
Jim Ratcliffe, who tried to buy Chelsea last year, however, did not succeed. He was born in Failsworth, near Manchester, and is a big supporter of the club, while also being one of the richest men on the island.
After failing to sell to Chelsea, he stated that he would try to buy the club he supports, but was then informed by the Glazer brothers that the club was not for sale.
In the meantime, the attitude of the brothers Joel and Avram Glazer changed, so Ratcliffe now joined the process of “bidding” for the purchase of the club.
Ineos Group owns two football clubs. These are French Nice and Swiss Lausanne.
