Maltese Premier League - Round 11 brings a lot of excitement

Round 11 of the Maltese Premier League brought a lot of excitement! Hibernians and Pieta Hotspurs opened on Saturday at 14:00 and the match ended, as expected, with a 2:1 victory for the hosts.

In the same period, another thrilling game was played. Birkirkara hosted Gzira, which was the most interesting match of this round! The visitors took the lead on the wings of Maxwell already in the 10th minute, while in the 20th minute Mbong brought the equalizer, which turned out to be the final result. So these two teams from the top of the table shared the points.

Valletta is back on the winning track and they managed to tie 3 straight games with victories. This time, the victim was Santa Lucia, who scored just 8 goals in the first 11 rounds of this year’s Maltese Premier League. The result was 0:2 in favor of Valletta and the scorers were Zammit and Paiber.

The Zebbug and Hamrun match brought us the greatest excitement. The last-placed Zebbug already led 2:0 in the 10th minute against the leader Hamrun, who allowed only 3 goals before that! Jonny managed to reduce it to 2:1 in the 14th minute, but unfortunately, the game was abandoned at half-time because of the heavy rain that hit the Maltese Islands so the Centenary Stadium pitch was waterlogged and because of that it was impossible to continue the match.

The match will resume at a date yet to be announced.

A few more interesting matches await us today!

On Sunday, at 11:30, the first match of today’s repertoire took place. Gudja welcomed Floriana, last year’s vice-champion, who did not start this year’s Maltese Premier League very well and have only 4 wins in the first 10 rounds. But they opened the game brilliantly and already at halftime they had a big advantage of 2:0, and the scorers were Garzia and Spiteri. The final result was 0:3.

At 14:00 Balzan and Mosta FC will play the penultimate match of the 11th round, and it is interesting that both teams have the same number of points and the same goal difference!

The round is closed by Marsaxlokk and Sirens starting at 16:30.
