On Wednesday, three more matches from the Round of 16 of the Challenge Cup took place, with Tarxien, Lija Athletic, and Marsa all progressing to the quarter-finals.
Tarxien defeated Sirens 4-3 after extra time, with the score tied at 3-3 by the 90th minute. The winning goal for Tarxien was scored by Claudio Henrique Da Silva Barbosa in the 110th minute.
In another match, Lija and Gudja played out a goalless draw after extra time, which meant the game had to be decided by a penalty shootout. Lija won 5-4 in the shootout.
Marsa also made it to the quarter-finals with a 2-1 victory over St. Andrew’s. The Saints took the lead with a goal from England in the first half, but Marsa turned the game around after the break from an own goal and with their captain Dylan Agius scoring the winning goal from a penalty.
