Kirkop United 2-3 Vittoriosa Stars
Vittoriosa Stars became the new league leaders after a hard-fought 3-2 win over Kirkop United at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday morning. Kirkop took an early lead through Andre Matos in the 5th minute, but Joseph Ogunnupe equalised for the Stars in the 17th. Kirkop regained the lead in the 28th minute, thanks to Dale Tabone, but an own goal by Kirkop’s Daryl Vella-Gerada levelled things at 2-2 just before half-time. In the second half, Paul Aderibigbe put Vittoriosa ahead in the 56th minute, and they managed to hold onto the lead despite some late chances from Kirkop.
Qrendi 1-3 San Gwann
San Gwann came from behind to beat Qrendi 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Friday night. Qrendi took the lead in the 14th minute through Leo Salgado, but San Gwann responded quickly with two goals from Ricardo Velasquez to go 2-1 up at half-time. Despite Qrendi pushing in the second half, San Gwann added a third through Mattia Zarb in the 77th minute to secure the win.
Mellieha 0-0 Birzebbuga St Peter’s
Birzebbuga St Peter’s were held to a 0-0 draw by Mellieha on Saturday afternoon at Mosta Ground. Mellieha played a solid defensive game, frustrating Birzebbuga, who failed to convert their chances. Mellieha goalkeeper Tony Curmi and their defence were key to the point earned.
Qormi 1-3 Xghajra Tornados
Xghajra Tornados defeated Qormi 3-1 at Mosta Ground on Saturday. Dario Borg opened the scoring for Xghajra in the 4th minute, and Richmond Hanson added a second before half-time. Qormi fought back in the second half, with David Joachim pulling one back in the 72nd minute, but Xghajra sealed the win with a third goal from Hanson in the 81st minute.
Luqa St Andrew’s 0-2 Attard
Attard defeated Luqa St Andrew’s 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Sirens Stadium. Nicholas Schembri gave Attard the lead in the 3rd minute, and Nick Ghio doubled their advantage before halftime. Despite Luqa’s efforts in the second half, Attard held firm to secure the win, which puts them on level points with Xghajra and Luqa for the Top 6.
Zejtun Corinthians 4-0 Rabat Ajax
Zejtun Corinthians continued their strong form with a 4-0 victory over Rabat Ajax at the Centenary Stadium on Friday. After an early goal from Adrian Carabott and a red card for Rabat’s Miguel Vella, Zejtun extended their lead in the second half with goals from Stefi Cale and Fabien Lufi.
Gharghur 1-3 Pembroke Athleta
Pembroke Athleta secured a 3-1 win over Gharghur on Sunday afternoon at the Centenary Stadium. Pembroke took a 3-0 lead in the first half, with goals from Jamie Camilleri and Ryan Sciberras. Gharghur pulled one back through Isaac Chircop in the second half, but Pembroke held on to the three points.
Marsaskala 4-2 Msida St Joseph
Marsaskala defeated Msida 4-2 in a crucial relegation clash. After opening the scoring through Joshua Ojelabi, Marsaskala saw their lead cancelled out by Mousstafa Maloul for Msida. However, Oghenekewaro put Marsaskala ahead again, and Ojelabi sealed the win with another goal, helping Marsaskala move above Gharghur in the standings.
