Senglea Athletic Football Club have unveiled their squad for the 2025–26 season, declaring a clear ambition to earn promotion from the National Amateur League and return to the Challenge League at the first opportunity. President Neil Carter said the club had strengthened “across the park” to ensure week-to-week competitiveness and a winning mentality.
Carter emphasised that pre-season was very positive under new head coach Rodney Bugeja and his staff, highlighting strong attendance, improved fitness levels and a growing cohesion within the group. The technical team, he added, has set clear standards on and off the pitch and built a confident dressing room ready for the opening fixtures.
The launch evening doubled as a celebration of the club’s heritage, with Senglea Athletic honouring former presidents, long-serving officials and dedicated supporters. Carter noted that recognising past service is central to the club’s identity and a reminder that future success is built on the foundations laid by previous generations.
In a significant off-field appointment, Eamon Bugeja, formerly head coach at several Challenge League clubs, has joined as General Secretary. His remit spans football operations and administration, including coordination between the technical staff and committee, player registrations, matchday logistics and compliance. The club believes his experience in the Maltese game will add structure and momentum to the promotion push.
Recruitment has focused on balance and depth, blending experienced campaigners with promising younger players and some foreigners.
