Boxer Steve Martin has won the TGS Malta Fair Play Award for the period covering October to December last year.
This quarterly award, presented by the Malta Sports Journalists Association and the Malta Fair Play Movement in partnership with Together Gaming Solutions, recognises individuals or teams in sports who show exceptional fair play through acts of kindness or sportsmanship during official or non-official competitions.
At the recent Fight Island 2 boxing event on 29th November 2024, Steve Martin faced his former coach, Lydon “Beqqu” Chircop. After Martin won the match, he visited Chircop’s dressing room to console him and praise his performance.
“Such a supportive gesture in a tough sport like boxing truly shows the spirit of sportsmanship. Well done for demonstrating such support,” said Edward Licari, Director of Together Gaming Solutions.
The award ceremony took place at the Together Gaming Solutions offices in St. Julian’s, with Edward Licari presenting the award. Charles Camenzuli attended on behalf of the Malta Fair Play Movement, and Stephen Azzopardi represented the Malta Sports Journalists Association.
Members of the public, teams, or officials who witness acts of fair play can inform the Malta Sports Journalists Association and the Malta Fair Play Movement by contacting them at [email protected] for consideration.
