Tarxien Rainbows have completed the signing of Brazilian centre forward Jonata de Oliviera Bastos, marking a key addition to their squad ahead of the new season. Malta Sport can confirm that a done deal has been reached between the newly-promoted side and the player, based on information obtained from multiple reliable sources.
Bastos, 27, is no stranger to Maltese football. He previously featured for Sliema Wanderers, where he made a strong impression with his physical presence and finishing ability. He left the country during the winter transfer window last season due to personal reasons, but has now opted to return this time, donning the colours of Tarxien Rainbows.
Despite interest from several other local clubs, Bastos has chosen to join the ambitious Rainbows, who are back in the Premier League and eager to build a competitive squad. His arrival is seen as a statement of intent from the club’s administration, who have been actively working on strengthening the team during pre-season.
Bastos is understood to be the first of six foreign players expected to join Tarxien in the coming weeks as the club prepares to make a solid return to top-flight football. With his experience and proven track record, Bastos is expected to play a key role in leading the Rainbows’ attack.
More updates on the remaining foreign signings are expected soon as Tarxien aim to finalise their squad ahead of the opening fixtures.
