Tarxien Rainbows have secured the signing of Brazilian left winger Érico Francisco de Oliveira Júnior, known as Erico Junior, following his recent tenure at GE Glória (RS) in Brazil. The 31-year-old winger, who signed for Glória in mid-June 2025, joins Tarxien with a season of competitive football already under his belt.
Before his brief spell at Glória in the Gaucho Série A2, Erico had a productive 2024 campaign, playing for Águia de Marabá and CSE. Across the previous season, he featured in 27 matches across Série D, Copa do Brasil, Copa Verde, and state competitions, scoring 5 goals.
Tarxien officials, speaking to MaltaSport, noted that Erico’s recent outings in Brazil have demonstrated his adaptation, directness, and capacity to influence games, qualities that align perfectly with Tarxien’s ambitions. They believe his ability to operate both on the left wing and centrally adds much-needed versatility to their forward line.
Operating primarily as a winger with the knack to drift inside, Erico brings speed, close control, and an eye for goal. His signing complements that of fellow Brazilian Jonata Bastos, and Tarxien are expected to unveil further signings in the coming days, part of a considered recruitment drive ahead of the Premier League season.
With pre-season underway, Erico’s readiness is a boost for Tarxien’s Coach Jacques Scerri, who is assembling a squad capable of competing immediately in Malta’s top flight. Fans will be eager to see if Erico can parlay his solid performances in Brazil into success in Malta
