Sources close to Birkirkara FC’s committee have told local sports journalists with their intentions about Paul Mbong’s future with the Club.
‘The Club is not willing to negotiate a new contract with the Malta International player’ one source has said.
Mbong was not in the starting line up in the Meridianbet FA Trophy final against Hibernians and not even in the 22 men squad list; a decision which lead immediately to speculation about the player’s future with the Club.
Unconfirmed reports say that the Club has also pressed disciplinary procedures against the player for allegedly ‘inappropriate conduct’ outside the field of play in the days leading to the Grand Final of the last Sunday.
Mbong had signed for Birkirkara in 2020 on a 5 year deal with the contract about to expire on 30th June 2025.
Ħamrun Spartans and Valletta FC are reported to be closely following Paul Mbong for a possible free transfer deal.
Over his tenure with the club, Mbong has contributed a total of 14 goals and has played over 140 games with the Stripes.
