Tottenham lose to Crystal Palace and stay just one point above the relegation zone

Tottenham Hotspur’s difficult season continued after a 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in the Premier League. The loss means Spurs are now only one point above the relegation zone and have gone 11 league matches without a win, the worst run in the club’s history.

West Ham’s win on Wednesday made Tottenham’s situation even worse and raised concerns that the club could face relegation for the first time since 1977.

Tottenham looked nervous at the start of the match and were lucky not to fall behind early, thanks to a good save from goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. Palace also had a goal ruled out because Ismaïla Sarr was slightly offside.

Spurs then had a good moment and took the lead when Archie Gray got to the byline and passed the ball back for Dominic Solanke to score.

However, the match soon changed. Micky Van de Ven was sent off for pulling down Sarr, and Sarr calmly scored the penalty to equalise.

Crystal Palace then took control before half-time. Adam Wharton helped create two goals. First, Jorgen Strand Larsen scored through the goalkeeper’s legs, and soon after Sarr added his second goal.

Tottenham improved slightly in the second half, but playing with ten men made things difficult. Their best chance came when Solanke’s shot was saved by Dean Henderson. Spurs never really looked likely to score again.

It was a poor start for new manager Igor Tudor, whose team have still not won a Premier League match in 2026. Tottenham must now focus on their upcoming Champions League match against Atletico Madrid while also trying to avoid relegation.

Crystal Palace played very well and are likely to finish the season safely in mid-table.
