Manchester City have reached an agreement to sign 18-year-old midfielder Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg.
Nypan, who made his debut at just 15 years old, has been attracting attention from many top European clubs, including Arsenal. However, it appears that City have beaten the competition to secure his signature.
Football journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that a deal worth €15 million (£12.5 million) has been finalised, and personal terms are now being discussed. The contract is expected to run until 2030. The young Norwegian is likely to go out on loan after joining City.
Nypan has often been compared to stars like Kevin De Bruyne and Martin Ødegaard for his style of play and technical ability.
David Ornstein from The Athletic also confirmed the deal and noted that there are no extra conditions or sell-on clauses included.
Roar Vikvang, Nypan’s former academy coach at Rosenborg, spoke highly of him in a recent interview. He explained that even at a young age, Nypan was very mature, focused on improving, and determined to reach the top level.
“He was always the best player for his age group,” said Vikvang. “He visited clubs abroad when he was just 13 or 14 and has always made smart decisions about his future.”
City see Nypan as a player for the future and continue to invest in young talent as they build the next generation under Pep Guardiola.
