Arsenal beat Newcastle 1-0, continuing their strong record against them at home. This win keeps Arsenal’s hopes alive of winning their first league title in over 20 years.
After a disappointing couple of weeks where they lost their lead at the top of the table, Arsenal were under pressure to respond. Eberechi Eze had an early shot that went just wide, warning Newcastle of the danger. Soon after, Arsenal took the lead. A short corner led to a well-worked move, and Eze scored into the top corner after a pass from Kai Havertz.
Newcastle didn’t create many chances in the first half, but Sandro Tonali nearly equalised with a long-range shot. Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya made a good one-handed save to keep his team ahead. Havertz picked up an injury, which could be a concern for Arsenal ahead of important upcoming matches.

In the second half, Eze also went off injured, adding to Arsenal’s problems. The team struggled to control the game, and there was a nervous feeling in the stadium as they tried to hold on to their lead. Gabriel Martinelli had a chance to score but his shot was blocked.
Newcastle came close to equalising near the end. Yoane Wissa missed a good chance, and Dan Burn’s header was saved by Raya. Despite not playing particularly well, Arsenal held on for the win and moved three points clear at the top of the table.
Newcastle, meanwhile, suffered their fourth straight defeat and look set to finish mid-table.
