Alexis Mac Allister scored in the 97th minute to give Liverpool a dramatic 1-0 win away at Nottingham Forest in the Premier League. The result leaves Forest just two points above the relegation zone.
Liverpool were forced into a late change before kick-off after Florian Wirtz was injured in the warm-up, and they struggled to get going early on. Aside from a header from Hugo Ekitike that went over the bar, they created very little in the first half.
Forest had the better chances before the break. Murillo’s powerful free-kick was blocked, and Elliot Anderson fired just over the bar late in the half. Despite having several efforts, Forest rarely tested Alisson properly.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Forest looking the more dangerous side. Nikola Milenković headed just wide from a good cross by Callum Hudson-Odoi, while Liverpool found it difficult to create clear opportunities.
Both managers made changes as the game went on, searching for a winner. Forest went close through Morgan Gibbs-White and Ibrahim Sangaré late on, but could not find the breakthrough.
In stoppage time, Liverpool struck. A clearance fell kindly for Mac Allister, who reacted quickest to score from close range and seal all three points. The late goal boosts Liverpool’s hopes of a top-four finish, while Forest are left looking nervously over their shoulders in the battle to stay up.
