Nottingham Forest have signed Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz from Juventus on a one-year loan. The deal includes a condition that could see the move become permanent next summer.
The 27-year-old, who won a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics with Brazil, only played 27 times for Juventus after moving there from Aston Villa in a deal worth around 50 million euros.
“I’m really happy to be here. It’s a big club, and I chose to come because I can see the ambition the club has,” Luiz said in a statement on Thursday night.
Luiz began his professional career at Vasco da Gama in Brazil, then moved to Manchester City in 2017. However, he didn’t make any appearances for them and spent two years on loan at Girona before joining Aston Villa in 2019.
Nottingham Forest, who finished seventh in the Premier League last season, will face Crystal Palace on Sunday.
