The war between Barcelona and Real Madrid continues.
After the president of the Catalans, Joan Laporta, said at the press conference that Real has been favored in the last 70 years and that the club is a regime, and that the current playing of the victim by the royal club is the height of cynicism, the answer came from Madrid.
Real has published a video entitled “Who is the regime club here”, in which it refers to Barcelona’s connections with Francisco Franco.
The video shows how Barcelona awarded the former head of state three medals and declared him an honorary member of the club in 1965.
It is pointed out that during Franco’s regime, Barça was the national champion eight times and won the General Cup nine times (later renamed the King’s Cup), and that Real did not win a single title in 15 years.
Real also reminds that the Nou Camp was opened by Franco’s general Jose Solís Ruiz and that Franco’s regime saved the club from bankruptcy three times.
