Kristaps Porzingis will not play for Latvia at the upcoming Mundobasket. The injury was stronger than his desire to help the selection.
Latvia will play in the Mundobasket for the first time, but they will perform there without their best player, Porzingis, due to an injury.
“It is very important for me to be there, even though I will not play. Boston supported my decision. Also, I have a long season ahead of me. I need to get to know my new teammates.” Kristaps said.
He has problems with his foot and cannot give his maximum.
“I have an idea where the injury occurred. It develops during the career. During training, it starts to hurt. This is like never before. I felt that I would not be able to achieve the shape I would like to have. It wouldn’t be logical for me to try to break my foot.” the Boston player concluded.
Latvia is in Group H, and its rivals are Canada, France and Lebanon.
