Barcelona player Nikola Mirotic points out that fame and money are not the most important things in life, and that he knows many examples where money has had a negative impact.
“You will not be happy because of money and fame. I lived in the USA for five years – I saw people who had nothing, then they had millions and everything they wanted, then they lost it. Seventy percent of the players were destroyed,” says Mirotic and adds:
“I am happy that I have a great team around me – people in charge of finance, marketing, psychologists. They protect me”.
He cited NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo as an example.
“It’s hard to smile when you’re having a bad day, it seems like you always have to be happy. I remember Giannis Antetokounmpo – even though he was very tired, he signed autographs until everyone was happy. He is very modest”.
The Barcelona basketball player recommends his colleagues to have a plan B and that they should know what they will do after their career.
“Many don’t know what to do, as if the world is ending. We have to work harder on that, so that the players are aware and prepare for the end of their careers, because professional life goes by quickly,” Mirotic points out.
