The owner of the Dallas Mavericks, Mark Cuban, talked about the roles Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving have in the team from Texas.
Irving arrived in Dallas in February of this year, from the Brooklyn Nets, and many wondered how he would function in tandem with Luka Doncic, who is the team’s unrivaled first star.
“I believe that Kyrie has matured to the point where he knows that this is Luka Doncic’s team. Luka also knows that this is his team and that is very important. Irving is ready to play the role of a shooting guard, and when Luka is not on the field, we have a playmaker who can score and assist. Both of them make their teammates better, and we haven’t had that before.” said Cuban.
Last season, Irving averaged 27.1 points, 5.5 assists and 5.1 rebounds, while Doncic averaged 32.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8 assists.
