Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets opened the new NBA season with a defeat. The loss to Utah is shocking, but the public reaction is even more shocking because of one detail.
Namely, one player from Utah particularly excelled in duels with the Serbian ace.
It is Collin Sexton, who with Darius Garland formed a very dynamic young tandem in Cleveland until this summer, and then the Cavaliers (with Lauri Markkanen, Ochai Agbaji and three future first-round picks) gave him to Utah in exchange for Donovan Mitchell.
Sexton, who showed at a very young age that he will possess fantastic basketball talent, and in 2016 was the MVP of the World Championship for players under 17 years of age, excelled so much that at the end he even, like a bull, pretended to charge with his hoof – and then roared past Jokic and scored a basket.
In the next attack, after handing the ball, Jokic started to descend into the racket and bumped into Sexton. With that, he literally ran him over. Twitter went on FIRE because of this!
Of course, since nothing terrible happened on the court, because the center of Denver ran into a much shorter rival in an attempt to pass, who positioned himself to force a foul in the attack (which he succeeded in doing), all those reactions are just a reflection of the “overexcitement” of those fans who are not happy that Jokic is a two-time consecutive MVP.
