Memphis basketball player Ja Morant has been suspended for eight games “due to behavior harmful to the league”, the NBA League announced.
He posted a video of himself brandishing a gun in a nightclub.
This suspension, “without payment of salary” for missed matches, is retroactive, the announcement reads.
Also, the investigation established that Morant was intoxicated.
“Ja’s behavior was irresponsible, reckless and potentially very dangerous. It also has serious consequences considering the influence that he has, especially on young fans who look up to him,” said the commissioner of the strongest league in the world, Adam Silver.
After eight games, he is expected to return to the team.
