The Atlanta Hawks and the Cleveland Cavs played a great match at the State Farm Arena in Georgia, and the home team won 120:118.
After the tie in the opening period, Atlanta played much better on both ends of the floor and by halftime had a 59:51 lead.
After the break, the most efficient quarter of the game followed, in which both teams put much more emphasis on attack than defense, so the Hawks managed to reach +10 before the last 12 minutes of basketball in the State Farm Arena.
The Cavs didn’t give up, which paid off for them exactly two minutes before the end when Mobley’s basket made it 115:115. However, after that, there was a series of guest misses, which the Atlanta basketball players used for a new “escape” to +4 via Murray and Capela.
The terrific Mitchell hit a 3-pointer for the Cavs with 56 seconds left, but that was all the Cavs got for this game as Young hit a free throw with four seconds left to make it 120-118.
Dejounte Murray was the best in the home team with 29 points. He was followed by Okongwu with 21 points, and Trae Young recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 assists. Bogdanovic reached 12 points, with two rebounds and an assist, and also had one steal.
Donovan Mitchell played great and with 44 points was by far Cleveland’s best player. Garland accompanied him with 27 points, and Evan Mobley recorded a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds, along with six assists.
The Cavs are in fourth place in the East with a record of 48-29, while Atlanta is eighth with 38 wins and losses each.
