The basketball players of Cedevita Olimpia won the title after defeating Helios in the last match of the final series, but the headache is caused by the injury of Slovenian captain Edo Muric, who will miss Mundobasket.
The basketball player tore the ligaments in his right knee during the fourth game of the final series against Helios, so he will be out until at least October.
“The situation is far from good, my knee twisted. There is a very difficult challenge ahead of me, but I’m not afraid, it’s all part of life. I will do everything to return to the field stronger than before the injury.
I will stay positive despite everything. I don’t think about the future, now my only wish is to recover from the injury. I will start rehab as soon as possible. It’s very difficult to think about everything because the season just ended”, said the former Partizan basketball player after the match with Helios.
Before the injury, Muric scored four points and had two assists. Cedevita Olimpia thus won the third consecutive championship title thanks to the victory in the fourth match with a score of 99:71.
Muric is a long-time member of the Slovenian national team, recently captain, and was part of the team that won European gold in 2017.
Mundobasket will be held from August 25 to September 10 in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines.
