The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) Disciplinary Board has imposed sanctions on the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF), the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) and several players and officials following incidents during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Final. These actions violated the CAF Disciplinary Code.
Sanctions for Senegal
- Senegalese head coach Pape Bouna Thiaw has been suspended for five official CAF matches for unsporting conduct and bringing the game into disrepute. He has also been fined USD 100,000.
- Players Iliman Cheikh Baroy Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr have each been suspended for two official CAF matches for unsporting behaviour towards the referee.
- The Fédération Sénégalaise de Football has been fined USD 300,000 for misconduct by supporters, USD 300,000 for the unsporting conduct of players and technical staff, and USD 15,000 for five players receiving cautions.
Sanctions for Morocco
- Moroccan player Achraf Hakimi has been suspended for two official CAF matches, with one match suspended for one year, for unsporting behaviour.
- Player Ismaël Saibari has been suspended for three official CAF matches and fined USD 100,000.
- The Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football has been fined USD 200,000 for the conduct of stadium ball boys, USD 100,000 for the actions of players and technical staff who obstructed the VAR review area, and USD 15,000 for supporters using lasers during the match.
Protest Rejected
CAF also rejected a protest lodged by Morocco regarding alleged violations by Senegal of Articles 82 and 84 of the AFCON regulations during the final.
The sanctions demonstrate CAF’s commitment to enforcing the principles of fair play, integrity, and proper conduct in its competitions.
