About the coaches
Phil Charnock joined Liverpool FC at the age of 12. He made history by becoming the club’s youngest-ever player to feature in a European match, debuting at 17 against Apollon Limassol in 1992. After leaving Liverpool at 22, he went on to play for clubs including Blackpool, Crewe Alexandra, Port Vale, and Linfield. He returned to Liverpool as an Academy coach in 2012 and now works with the U12s.
Michael Yates signed for Liverpool aged 8 and came up through the ranks, playing alongside stars like Michael Owen and Steven Gerrard. After leaving the club at 18, he played professionally for Dundee in the Scottish Premier League. He returned to Liverpool as a coach, working with youth teams and later as Programme Manager for the LFC International Academy, where he helped develop global coaching programmes.
