Tonight at 19:00, newly-promoted Tarxien Rainbows take on reigning champions Ħamrun Spartans at the Tony Bezzina Stadium in the second day of Matchday 1 of the YoHealth Malta Premier.
Ħamrun have one eye on their upcoming Conference League play-off against RFS of Latvia next Thursday, so they are expected to make some changes to their usual European line-up. However, the squad remains strong after investing heavily over the summer to build depth.
Tarxien Rainbows, who came up from the Challenge League, have also been busy in the transfer market. They’ve brought in several Brazilian players, along with local signings like Peter Xuereb, Gabriel Vella, Marcus Grima, and returning goalkeeper Andrea Cassar. Other notable additions include Nhayson Da Silva Rosa, Luc Zango, and Wallisson Bahia.
Ħamrun Spartans have also strengthened their team, re-signing Jonny Robert and bringing in players such as Matias Garcia, Raphael Compri, Domantas Simkus, Merlin Hadzi, Ndri Koffi, Lougah Junior Djile, Mouad El Fanis, Vincenzo Polito, Ante Coric, and Stijn Meijer. They have also brought back Nikolai Micallef, who was on loan at Naxxar Lions.
