The BOV Tazza l-Kbira returns for its highly anticipated 2026 edition, reaffirming its status as the most prestigious race in Malta’s racing calendar. This iconic event will once again bring together Malta’s top racing horses, competing over the traditional 2,640-metre course, with the Final scheduled for Sunday, 12 April 2026.
Organised by Malta Equidrome, with the support of the Malta Racing Club and Equestri Malta and backed by Bank of Valletta’s long-term commitment, the BOV Tazza l-Kbira continues to celebrate sporting excellence, discipline, and heritage, values that closely reflect Bank of Valletta’s ethos and its enduring role within the Maltese community.

A total of 65 Premier Class horses will take to the newly refurbished Marsa Racetrack for the six qualifying heats, to be held between 14 and 15 March 2026. These races will determine the 24 semi-finalists, who will then compete in the Semi-Finals scheduled for 29 March 2026, from which the finalists will emerge.
The competition will culminate in the BOV Tazza l-Kbira Final on 12 April 2026, marking the pinnacle of the racing season and a landmark occasion for racing enthusiasts and the wider sporting public.
In addition to the sporting spectacle, the racing programme for the Final Day will feature special entertainment and activities designed for all the family, further enhancing the overall experience for attendees. Full details of the entertainment programme will be announced closer to the event.
Bank of Valletta’s support of the Tazza l-Kbira reflects its broader commitment to sustaining Maltese traditions, supporting organised sport, and investing in initiatives that bring communities together, reinforcing the Bank’s belief in the social and cultural value of sport.
