Last weekend, six Maltese players represented their respective teams in the opening round of the Italian team championships held in Colleferro. SS Lazio TFC, with Jamie Bonnici and led by captain Patrick Pace, concluded the first round in seventh place in Serie A out of twelve teams.

World Veterans champion Mario Camilleri played a crucial role with six victories, aiding Messina to secure ninth place in Serie B. Meanwhile, in Group A of Serie C, the newly promoted Siracusa excelled, finishing the first round in fourth position, with Melvin Barun being instrumental in achieving this milestone for the Sicilian team.

In the same championship, Palermo, featuring young Jayden Bonnici, ended the first round in seventh place, with the 15-year-old making a significant contribution.

Lastly, Spencer Conti’s Reggio Calabria finished the first round in second place in Group B of Serie C, just two points shy of the top spot, which ensures automatic promotion to Serie B.

These players will return to action in April for the second round of the championship.
