Bormla Subbuteo Club continued their fine international form after securing their fourth Austrian Grand Prix title in the last five years at the FISTF Grand Prix of Austria, the Royal Flash Cup 2026, held in Vienna.
The Maltese side was made up of Christian Haas, Wolfgang Haas, George Ebejer and Jason Pisani, with the team producing a flawless run throughout the competition by winning every match they played.

Bormla began strongly in the group phase with a 3-1 win over Belgian side AS Hennuyer, before recording two comfortable 3-0 victories against Austrian clubs TSC Phoenix and TSC Royal 78 C.

Their dominance continued in the knockout stages as they swept aside TSC Royal 78 A of Austria 4-0 in the semi-final, before defeating Belgian club ST Stembert 2-1 in the final to lift the title once again.
For ST Stembert, Maltese player John Zammit proved to be a key figure in helping the Belgian club reach the final.

The latest success marks Bormla SC’s third consecutive triumph at this Grand Prix and further strengthens their position at the top of the FISTF World Rankings for another month.
There were also notable performances from Maltese players in the individual competitions.
In the Open Category, George Ebejer reached the semi-finals after defeating Daniel Vranovitz of Austria 7-2, Marios Strommer of Austria 9-2 and Benjamin Marain of Belgium 4-2. He also registered a 3-0 quarter-final win over Matthias Averlant of Belgium before narrowly losing 2-1 to Steffen Despretz of Belgium in the semi-finals. Earlier in the competition, he had also faced Noah Janssen of Belgium.
Jason Pisani also enjoyed a strong run in the Veteran Category, reaching the semi-finals after beating Matthias Stechern of Germany 5-0, Kat. Waldorf Busch of Austria 5-0 and Alfred Strommer of Austria 5-0. In the quarter finals, he overcame Christos Aggelinas of Greece 3-1 after shots, before suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat after shots to Austria’s David Busch in the semi finals.
Meanwhile, John Zammit was unfortunate not to progress beyond the group stage, missing out on qualification on goal difference. His results included a 1-1 draw against Massimiliano Croatti of Italy, a 2-1 defeat to David Busch of Austria, and wins over Georgios Dimakeas of Greece 5-0 and Robert Green of Australia 4-0.
The continued participation of Maltese athletes in international events remains possible thanks to the support of SportMalta.
