Team Malta won the annual Malta vs The Rest event organized by the Royal Malta Golf Club, marking the end of the 2024/25 season.
This was the first time in five years that the Maltese team claimed the sword — the prize associated with this competition — as the match had ended in a draw in the previous two editions.
The competition featured Malta’s top golf players going up against foreign players based in Malta, and was held in a spirit of camaraderie.
The Maltese side got off to a strong start over the first two days and established a solid lead. Although The Rest managed a comeback on the final day, it wasn’t enough, and they were ultimately defeated 13–11.
Team Malta consisted of Andrew Naudi, Samuel Azzopardi, Patrick Baldacchino, Luc Schembri, Matthew Mangion, Nicholas Laferla, Zachary Pisani, JJ Micallef, Danjel Bogdanovic, Ruud Critien, Nicholas Urpani, and Andy Borg, with William Beck serving as captain.
The Rest team included Steven Paterson, Eugene Cranley, Anders Bergman, Andrew Featherstone, Alexandr Vagimov, Finley Gratil, Adam Sanders, Marc Askew, Noah Gratil, Zhetang Zhang, Fredrick Johansson, and Bryan Peterkin, with Stewart Davies as captain.
