Royal Malta Golf Group organizes Nations Cup at Marsa

The Royal Malta Golf Club organized the Nations Cup where four teams took part in this competition. Team Malta competed against the Scandinavians and the Nordics while Great Britain and Ireland played against players coming from different other countries also known as The Rest.


In a friendly environment but with wind and rain that dominated at the Royal Malta Golf Club, the Maltese players had mixed results.
Nicky Beck and Luc Schembri played against Tony Kjaldstrom and Tore Lindtveit and lost after the latter recorded six birdies.


On the other hand, Ruud Critien and David Urpani won, beating Toni Westerholm and Alex Hillblom. Andrew and Peter Naudi, who dramatically won the last hole against Miika Mustonen and Harri Lehtniemi, achieved a halved match.


There was also participation of Maurice Gruppetta, Stephen Pandolfino, Martin Azzopardi, and Patrick Baldacchino who were part of team Malta.
Meanwhile, the final result after this game shifted in favour of the Scandinavians and the Nordics who beat the Maltese three and a half points to two and a half points.


Meanwhile, in the other games, it was The Rest who beat Great Britain and Ireland by three and a half points to two and a half points.

Among the results, Gernot MacSchmid and Danijel Bogdanovic beat the Irish Patrick Cary and James Lynam whilst Englishman Tim Cleasby and Irishman David Barry beat Noah Gratil and Aleks Vagimov.


Dorien Mece and Moses Kiberu from The Rest were better than Paddy Mann and David Mansfield while Steve Patterson and Steve Dodds beat Peter Canaki and Hugo Zhang.


Finally, in a balanced encounter,r Eugene Cranley and Eugene McCooey halved against the Greek Panos Baltzis and the French Gaetan Aubin.
At the end of the activity Craig Welsh and Jozef Spiteri on behalf of the sponsor The Spectrum IFA Group presented a memento of the occasion.
The second day of these games will take place on Monday 10 February where this time Malta will play against The Rest whilst Great Britain and Ireland will play against the Scandinavians/Nordics.
