Zane Pace and Matthew Galea Soler have been named the winners of the Atlas Youth Athlete of the Month Award for February.
Pace, who was recognised in motorsport, produced one of the most impressive international performances ever achieved by a Maltese athlete during Round 3 of the WSK Super Master Series in Viterbo.

He made an immediate impact by securing pole position in qualifying, before confirming his excellent form with victory in his prefinal. Pace then went on to finish first in the final, completing an outstanding weekend at one of the most prestigious and highly competitive karting championships in the world.
His performances against a strong European field once again highlighted the scale of his talent and potential on the international stage.
In athletics, Matthew Galea Soler also continued to impress, further strengthening his reputation as one of Malta’s most promising young athletes.
Galea Soler is currently ranked first in Malta in the 300 metres and 600 metres, while he has also made his mark in the 400 metres, where he holds a personal best of 46.63 seconds.

These results continue to underline his growing status as one of the brightest young prospects in Maltese athletics.
The Atlas Youth Athlete of the Month Award for February was presented by Atlas Insurance CEO and Managing Director Matthew von Brockdorff. The Malta Sports Journalists Association was represented by General Secretary Joanna Camilleri.
Pace’s presentation will take place at a later date when he returns to Malta.
The award is a joint initiative between the Malta Sports Journalists Association and Atlas Insurance. The adjudicating panel reviews all youth achievements recorded during the month under consideration, while local sports associations and federations are also invited to submit nominations if they believe one of their under 21 athletes has distinguished himself or herself during that period.
