Luxol St Andrew’s 4–4 KMF Loznica Grad
University Sports Pavilion, Tal-Qroqq
Luxol St Andrew’s kept themselves in contention for a place in the next round of the UEFA Futsal Champions League after a dramatic 4–4 draw with Serbian side KMF Loznica Grad.
Gabriel Dobre’s team made a fast start and moved ahead inside the opening stages, but a spate of defensive errors turned the first half on its head. Loznica capitalised ruthlessly to lead 4–1 at the interval.
The response after the break was immediate and relentless. Luxol pushed higher, controlled possession and chipped away at the deficit before drawing level with just 13 seconds remaining.
Brazilian winger Everton Veve was the standout performer, scoring twice – including one as the flying keeper – while Leanderson and Celino Alves added the others. Stefan Spasic, Marko Avramovic, Janio and Igor Martins were on target for Loznica.
The result leaves Luxol with a fighting chance of progressing, though a stern test awaits next. They face Benfica tomorrow, after the Portuguese champions beat Riga Futsal Club 6–1.
Luxol scorers: Everton Veve 2, Leanderson, Celino Alves.
Loznica scorers: Stefan Spasic, Marko Avramovic, Janio, and Igor Martins.
