Yesterday marked the official start of the Orkney Island Games, with Team Gozo proudly representing the Maltese Islands. The squad made a memorable entrance at the opening ceremony, bringing laughter, positive energy, and strong team spirit to the event. The team’s vibrant presence set an optimistic tone for the competition ahead, signaling their readiness to take on the challenges.
The action begins today, Sunday, 13th July 2025, as Gozo’s athletes compete across multiple disciplines including triathlon, football, and athletics.
The day’s schedule includes the men’s triathlon at noon (CET), featuring Frank Attard, Josef Azzopardi, and Ryan Muscat. Later in the afternoon, the men’s football team will face the Shetland Islands at 16:30 (CET). Women’s athletics also takes center stage with Michelle Dimech competing in the 10,000m race at 18:50 (CET). To close the day, the women’s football team will go up against the Isle of Man at 20:00 (CET).
