Fiorentina has officially confirmed the return of Stefano Pioli as their head coach. Although his appointment was initially set for 1 July due to his existing contract with Al-Nassr, the club announced this morning that Pioli is now formally in charge.
Pioli previously managed Fiorentina between 2017 and 2019, achieving a record of 27 wins, 25 draws, and 22 losses. Beyond the statistics, his leadership brought much-needed stability and emotional strength to the team, fans, and city in the difficult period following the passing of Davide Astori. After parting ways with Fiorentina in a cost-cutting move by the Della Valle family, Pioli took over at AC Milan, where he guided the club to the Serie A title in 2022. Following a one-season stint at Al-Nassr, he has now returned to Florence.
He has signed a contract that runs until June 2028, reportedly earning €3 million annually. Having spent five years as a central defender for Fiorentina during his playing days and earning widespread respect throughout the city, Pioli’s homecoming has been warmly welcomed by supporters who have never doubted his loyalty to the club’s colours.
