The Gozo women’s football team has achieved a significant breakthrough at the 2025 Orkney Island Games, booking their place in the semifinals after a strong group-stage campaign. With disciplined defending and well-timed attacking play, the Gozitan side impressed throughout, securing key results including a 2-0 win over hosts Orkney and a determined showing against Frøya. Joeline Camilleri and Ana Mercieca scored the winning goals. They will now play against Bermuda in the semifinals.

Beyond the football pitch, Gozo’s athletes continued to compete with resilience and pride across various events. In cycling, out of a challenging field of 32 highly skilled riders, Stefan Scerri delivered a strong performance to claim 13th place, showing his consistency and endurance across a demanding course. Teammate Brandon Sultana also gave a commendable effort, finishing in 22nd place despite stiff competition and testing conditions.

Meanwhile, in golf, Danijel Bogdanovic completed his second round with a score of 94. While there’s still room for improvement in the overall standings, Bogdanovic remains focused, with each round offering valuable experience and a chance to build momentum for the days ahead.
Day 3 also saw a unifying moment for Team Gozo, as athletes and officials gathered for an encouraging team talk filled with motivation, pride, and shared purpose. The session reinforced the strong sense of identity within the delegation as they move forward together with one goal, representing Gozo with excellence.
