In the final match of Sunday’s YoHealth Malta Premier League Matchday 7, Naxxar Lions celebrated their first victory of the season in stunning fashion, beating Sliema Wanderers 4-0. The win was sealed by an impressive performance from Vitinho, who scored twice and led the charge for George Vella’s side.
Naxxar opened the scoring after just 15 minutes from a free-kick by Dos Santos. Sliema goalkeeper Al Tumi spilled the ball, and Cardoso was quick to pounce and put Naxxar in front.
Four minutes before half-time, Bonanno made it 2-0 with a low shot from the right. Then in first-half injury time, Dos Santos was through on goal and made no mistake, slotting past Al Tumi to make it 3-0.
In the second half, with just eight minutes left, Dos Santos scored his second of the game and Naxxar’s fourth, wrapping up a convincing and much-needed win.
