Today at the National Stadium, from the Closing Round of the YoHealth Malta Premier at 4:30pm, Floriana F.C. face Sliema Wanderers F.C. in the historic Old Firm Derby.
Floriana currently sit two points ahead of Ħamrun Spartans F.C. in second place, with two matches remaining in the closing round. A victory today would be the ideal result to maintain their momentum and hold on to first place ahead of the next phase.
The Greens will be looking to put behind them the disappointment of conceding a late goal in last week’s match against Ħamrun, which denied them the chance to open a five-point lead at the top. Their focus now will be on returning to winning ways and continuing their strong campaign.
Their opponents, Sliema Wanderers, currently sit in seventh place level on 13 points with Valletta F.C. For them, a win is equally important as they aim to secure a place in the top six. In their last outing, Sliema drew 1-1 against Tarxien Rainbows F.C., a result considered disappointing given their expectations.
So far this season the two sides have met twice, with Floriana winning one encounter while the other ended in a draw.
