Malta striker Maria Farrugia has been awarded the Goal of the Season in the Barclays Women’s Championship.
The talented forward received the prize during the first-ever Women’s Professional Game Awards, held on Sunday. Farrugia was also in the running for the Player of the Season award.
Despite a tough year that saw her team, Sheffield United, drop to the third division, Farrugia still made her mark, scoring four goals during the campaign.
Her standout moment came with a superb curling strike against Bristol City – a goal that earned her this well-deserved recognition.
