Former footballers Roy Keane and Ian Wright commented on the events in the FA Cup quarter-final match between United and Fulham.
On the road to Manchester United, Fulham football players turned a victory into a defeat in just one minute – it was the 76th minute when they missed a penalty and received as many as three red cards.
After the VAR check, referee Chris Kavanagh pointed to the penalty spot and sent Willian to the locker room because he blocked Sancho’s goal for 1:1.
And then Aleksandar Mitrovic entered the scene, who, after a verbal duel with the referee, pushed the referee away and immediately earned a red card and a trip to the locker room.
The same thing happened to coach Marko Silva because of his objection, and United used the rest of the match to reach 3:1 from 0:1.
Roy Keane, the former captain of the Red Devils, said that the Fulham players and Mitrovic are to blame for everything that happened to them.
‘Ninety seconds of madness cost them passage. I have no sympathy for Fulham, they won’t get any praise from me. They had a chance, they blew it and that’s it,’ Keane said.
Ian Wright, the former ace of Arsenal, had no different comment from Keane.
“If I were a Fulham fan, I would be extremely disappointed because I think they had the match in hand. United hadn’t done much up to that point. They had to be more disciplined, especially Marko Silva as a coach. He had to calm Mitrovic in his attack on the referee. I feel sorry for the Fulham fans who came to Old Trafford to watch this,’ said Wright.
United is in the semifinals of the oldest cup competition for a record 31st time. To qualify for the final, they will play with the Brighton team.
