Żabbar obtained a smart win in the Ġammari Muscat Mosta Tournament by defeating newly promoted Valletta 2-0 in their Group B opener. Goals from Kean Scicluna and Nicky Agius secured a deserved win for the Southern side, who showed greater composure and tactical discipline throughout the match.
In the second Group B fixture, Sliema Wanderers also registered a 2-0 victory, overcoming Marsaxlokk thanks to goals from Steve Pisani and Adam Magri Overand. The Blues controlled large spells of the game and took their chances well to claim the three points.
Group A action resumes on Friday, 18 July, with Naxxar Lions facing Tarxien Rainbows at 18:15, followed by a clash between tournament hosts Mosta and Gżira United at 20:30.
